In collaboration with All Saints' and Saint Mark's Episcopal Churches, Saint Andrew's will co-host a joint-parish 4-part formation series devoted to exploring the heart of the Black preaching tradition on Monday evenings throughout October—October 5, 12, 19, and 26. We'll gather from 6:00–7:30pm at Trinity Commons Episcopal Student Center (1170 11th Ave. South).

This Tuesday, September 8, we'll offer at the 12:15pm our monthly requiem mass for parishioners and friends of Saint Andrew's, as well as the victims of gun violence in Birmingham, with intercessions for those who were killed in August of this and last year.

We are very pleased to share that in the coming weeks, Saint Andrew’s will install updated video streaming and recording equipment that will complement the audio system upgrade installed last year. We are grateful to have received another Refresh & Renew Grant from the Diocese of Alabama to cover the expenses of this important project!

On Sunday, August 30, during coffee hour, Saint Andrew's is hosting a screening of Life for Jeffery Lee, a documentary examining the case of Jeffery Lee, an Alabama man incarcerated on death row whose case raises serious questions about justice, mercy, and the value of redemption.

Our New Ministry Intern!
It is a gift to welcome Nic Dodson to Saint Andrew's this Sunday. He will be with us for 12 weeks as a part of his discernment process to Holy Orders in the Diocese of Alabama. He seeks ordination as a Deacon in the Church, and we are privileged to share this brief season in his journey. As part of this internship, Nic will share regularly in service at the altar on Sundays and other Holy Days, participate regularly in outreach projects and Christian formation, and more.

The August & September edition of “Word & Deed,” Saint Andrew’s new bi-monthly online journal, is out now! We post the journal to our website (www.standrewsbham.org) and on our parish Facebook page.

It includes articles about the history of Saint Andrew’s, financial updates, photos from the last couple months, and shares information about a host of upcoming events – opportunities for fellowship, worship, and formation.

Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 18, we will resume our regular midweek schedule of services of Morning Prayer (Mon. - Thurs., 8:00am) and the Holy Eucharist (Tues. & Thurs.,12:15pm).

The Pantry is looking for volunteers to help on the Saturday, August 15 Distribution Day ( due to several volunteers attending the Jonathan Daniel’s Pilgrimage.) Volunteers will need to be at the church by 8:15am, and generally leave at 10:30am or after cleanup is finished.
