Education for Ministry

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! for anyone interested in participating in Education for Ministry (EfM) 'Wide Angle', a one-year program of study and discernment for anyone wanting to deepen their faith and explore their baptismal calling. 

What is Education for Ministry (EfM)? EfM is a distance-learning certificate program from Sewanee School of Theology at the University of the South. Since 1975, it has helped thousands of Christians live more fully into their baptismal identity — not just those called to ordained ministry, but anyone seeking to minister more confidently in everyday life. EfM is not “Bible Study” — it engages both heart and mind, with theological reflection at its core.

What is EfM 'Wide Angle'? Wide Angle is open to everyone — those who want to experience EfM without the four-year commitment, those who have already completed EfM Classic, or those currently in EfM Classic who want to take it alongside their studies. It surveys the full EfM curriculum — Scripture, Church History, Theology, and Ethics — using accessible books and diverse voices. Weekly preparation is generally 90 minutes or less.
