Honoring Lives Lost to Gun Violence: Selma Memorial Quilt Event

On Saturday, August 9, from 1:00 to 4:00pm, Mothers Against All Violence in Selma (MAAVIS), in partnership with Alabama Appleseed and Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice, will host the Selma Memorial Quilt Event. This special gathering invites family members who have lost loved ones to gun violence to join in creating a memorial quilt to honor their memory.

MAAVIS bridges the gap between survivors of violence and justice-involved people, championing restorative justice practices to address violence and over-incarceration.

The event will take place the same day as the diocesan Jonathan Myrick Daniels and the Martyrs of Alabama Pilgrimage—a fitting occasion to remember and lift up lives lost to violence and to renew our shared commitment to peace and justice.
