Yvonne Hufft Moore

Yvonne Hufft Moore, 68, a resident of Poplarville, died peacefully October 4 at Slidell Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

Yvonne was born and raised in Lumberton Mississippi where she attended Lumberton Schools until she transferred and graduated with highest honors from Wiggins High School in 1975. She attended and graduated from Gulf Coast Community College-Perkinston Campus, majoring in Ornamental Horticulture. While there she was honored to be on Dean’s and President’s list. She then received a scholarship to attend Mississippi State University where she studied Horticulture.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred Hufft and Lorena Hester Hufft both of Lumberton, two brothers, Edward F. Hufft of Lumberton, and Jim Mallette of Montgomery Alabama, two sons, John Milton Haller, III, of Picayune, Mississippi, and Clyde Dempsey Moore of Hattiesburg Mississippi.

She is survived by her brothers, Orlean Bernard Hufft of Birmingham, Alabama, and Tom Mallette of Youngsville, Louisiana, a sister Virginia (Ginger) Mallette-Baker of Houston Texas; a host of cousins, and dear, special friends, Marci Holston-Gray of Lumberton, John Haller of Picayune, MS, Terri Smith-Purvis of Biloxi, Gay Potter-Smith of Lumberton, Karen Tucker of Hattiesburg, and Al Sanders of Poplarville. As well, her family would like to thank the medical staff of Highlands Community Hospital, Picayune, MS, and Slidell Memorial Hospital, Slidell, Louisiana.

A memorial service will be held at The Lumberton Church, 209 W. Main Ave., Lumberton, MS on Saturday, November 8 at 11:00 a.m. A private burial of ashes will follow at her parent’s graves at Byrdline Cemetery and Beall Cemetery respectively.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice in her name.
