Annual Parish Meeting
Dear beloved in Christ,
Each year, Saint Andrew’s Annual Parish Meeting provides us with the opportunity to gather and give thanks to God’s Spirit that has guided us over the past year. It also invites us to look ahead with joy and hope to how the Spirit will continue to open our hearts and extend our actions toward God’s love active in our community and neighborhoods. The forum offers us a time as parishioners to reflect on a shared question: How can we more faithfully follow where the Spirit leads us in mission and ministry together in 2026?
At Saint Andrew’s, our Annual Parish Meeting has a distinctive two-part format:
Our First Session: October 26
12:15 pm, Trinity Commons Student Center
The vestry’s Nominating Committee—made up of our outgoing vestry members, Elin Glenn, Barbara Sloan, and Phyllis Benington—will present a slate of candidates for the vestry and delegates to the diocesan convention. We will share the names of these candidates with you in the coming weeks, after they are approved by the vestry at its September meeting this Sunday, September 21. During this first session, the congregation will elect three new vestry members and delegates for the 195th Diocese of Alabama Convention, scheduled for January 26, 2026.
Our Second Session: Date to Be Announced
After the Diocesan Convention, we will gather for the second part of our Annual Parish Meeting. In this session, we will hear reports from the rector, organist and choirmaster, wardens, treasurer, and other program leaders. We will also review and approve the proposed budget for the upcoming year. More details will be shared once a date is finalized.
Please mark your calendar and plan to attend on Sunday, October 26, for the first session of our Annual Parish Meeting. Candidate information will be provided in the coming weeks, and I look forward to our time of prayerful discernment and thanksgiving together.
Yours in Christ’s love,
Fr. Peter Helman
