From the Organist & Choirmaster

This is quite a different article than I normally write, but I have felt the loving arms of our wonderful parish so much lately I was inspired to share my gratitude.

Over the last few days, several Saint Andrew’s parishioners have celebrated my engagement to Dillon my fiancé. Dillon of course is a familiar face around Saint Andrew’s, having celebrated several Masses when Fr Peter is out of town, served as lector at many Choral Evensongs, and sometimes singing in the parish choir even. It has meant so much to Dillon and I to see you celebrate our engagement and future life together.

Last Sunday June 22, parishioners from Dillon’s parish, Saint Catherine’s Chelsea, hosted an engagement party for us at their beautiful home and many folks from Saint Andrew’s joined us. It was so wonderful to see longtime friends from Saint Andrew’s come out and meet the people of Saint Catherine’s. It was certainly a great big Episcopal shindig! Thank you for your gifts, presence, and love. (I regret that not many of us were looking at the camera for our selfie!)

On Wednesday, Dillon was installed as the fourth Rector of Saint Catherines Episcopal Church in Chelsea, Alabama. A group of choristers from our parish choir joined Saint Catherine’s choir singing great hymns and a beloved anthem of Saint Andrew’s and Dillon, Mozart’s Ave verum corpus. An invitation was also extended to Saint Andrew’s and a great crowd filled the seats. In total there were 87 people at Dillon’s installation, the most attended service at Saint Catherine’s!

Thank you for all your support of not only my ministry at Saint Andrew’s as your Organist and Choirmaster, but also for your support of Dillon in his ministry at Saint Catherine’s. We are so grateful for all of you!
