2026 Lenten Devotional : "In the Wilderness"
Each year, Saint Andrew’s creates a Lenten devotional booklet filled with reflections written by our parish community. This long-standing tradition gives us an opportunity to journey together through Lent, Holy Week, and Easter, drawing on the insights and experiences of our members and friends.
The theme for this year is “In the Wilderness.”
This year, we especially invite contributors to explore this theme through poetry, allowing image, rhythm, and silence to shape our prayers. Alongside poems, contributors may also offer more general prose reflections on the theme or on the appointed scripture readings for each day.
We invite you to reflect upon your own experiences of barrenness, loss, or spiritual dehydration, and how—in the desert place—God spoke to you in hope, grace, and love. How did this “dark night of the soul” transform you and deepen your relationship with God?
Those who are interested will be sent a date and the scriptural readings for that day to help form your writing. Alternatively, you might choose a favorite poem or prayer to use for your day.
Pieces are no longer than 300–350 words (or we will have to edit it down!). The deadline is February 3 (though sending your piece by January 31 or earlier is greatly appreciated!). Please send submissions to Barbara Sloan at followthegleam@aol.com.
Let us take this season to celebrate the gift of transformation we have been given.
