The Feast of the Epiphany

Saint Andrew’s will celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany on January 6 at 6:30 pm. Join us!

“Today the Magi gaze in deep wonder at what they see:
heaven on earth,
earth in heaven,
man in God,
God in man,
one whom the whole universe cannot contain
now enclosed in a tiny body.
As they look, they believe and do not question,
as their symbolic gifts bear witness:
incense for God,
gold for a king,
myrrh for one who is to die."

(Saint Peter Chrysologus, 406-450 CE)

On January 6, the Church celebrates the revelation of God in Jesus Christ to the world on the Feast of the Epiphany. The word Epiphany comes from the Greek, meaning “appearance” or “manifestation.” We commemorate the visit of the Magi, wise travelers from the East, who followed a star from the East to Bethlehem to honor the Christ Child. Their journey bears witness to God’s love made known to all people, in every time and place.

Join us on Tuesday, January 6, at 6:30 pm for a service celebrating the Feast of the Epiphany. The liturgy will conclude with the cherished tradition of chalking the door of the church, as we bless the year ahead and dedicate ourselves anew to bearing and sharing Christ’s light in the world.
