A daily podcast offering Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Compline sung to Gregorian chant has surpassed 200,000 downloads and reached the top 100 in Apple Podcasts’ Religion rankings as it approaches its first anniversary, bringing the ancient tradition of sung daily prayer to listeners wherever they are.
The Daily Office Chanted launched on November 30, 2025, with daily recordings of Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer drawn from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer. Daily Compline, the church’s traditional service of night prayer, was added in May 2026.
The podcast offers the Daily Office in its entirety, with Scripture readings, canticles, prayers, and responses woven into a musical tradition of Gregorian chant, plainsong psalmody, and the service music of The Hymnal 1982. Using the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible, each recording invites listeners to participate in the church’s daily rhythm of prayer, wherever they may be.
The ministry reflects the longstanding Christian tradition of sung prayer as a way of deepening participation in daily worship. By making these services available through podcast platforms, The Daily Office Chanted offers a resource for people seeking a regular pattern of prayer at home, while traveling, or wherever their daily lives take them.
The podcast is free and listener-supported, with no advertising. It is available through major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
The Daily Office Chanted was created by Scott Dettra, director of music at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in McKinney, Texas. Dettra is an organist and church musician whose work includes traditional Anglican liturgy and sacred music.
