Holy Cross Day

Sunday, September 13 | The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross
We will celebrate Holy Cross Day on Sunday, September 13 with a Solemn Choral Mass with Procession and Station at the Door of the Church!

The True Cross was discovered in 326 CE by Saint Helena, mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine, during a pilgrimage to Palestine. By decree of Constantine and Helena, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre was built in Jerusalem at the site of the discovery and dedicated in 335 CE. A third of the True Cross remained in Jerusalem, a third was conveyed to Rome and deposited in the basilica of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme (“Holy Cross in Jerusalem”), and a third was translated to Constantinople to ensure the city’s security again invasion. The date of the feast marks the dedication of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
