Episcopal Church Women (ECW)

ECW Debrief
The revival meeting of Saint Andrew's ECW (Episcopal Church Women) was held July 18 at the home of Barbara Patterson. Nine persons, both male and female, attended.  We discussed what ECW is and how we could fit into life at Saint Andrew's.

It was decided that we had three areas that we could contribute to the church.  Before COVID, the ECW had been working on new kneelers for the altar rail and had completed three of the needlepoint tops.  We decided to finish the other three tops and the wraparound side panels.  Several of us volunteered to help, but since none of us there were experts, we decided to do some practices first. If there are any members in the congregation who do needlepoint and would like to help, please contact Barbara Patterson.

A second project deemed to be an enhancement for the church is raising funds to repair the bell.  Many members have lamented the fact that they no longer ring on Sundays and for weddings and funerals.  Several ways to raise funds were discussed and it was decided to make the decision at our next meeting on September 19th when we hope to have more interested persons attending.

A final project that would be ongoing was added--the Clothes Closet.  We decided on someone--i.e. the ECW--was needed to organize, take in donations and straighten up at least every two or so weeks in order to have it available on pantry days.  If the members take turns those weeks, it could be no more than once or twice a year per person.

At our next meeting on September 19th, we intend to elect officers, firm up plans and decide on a fundraiser to start off with.  We hope to have many others attending with ideas and enthusiasm.

We adjourned to snacks and mimosas and since we had so much food left over, we took it over to the church for Coffee Hour the next day.
